Bird watching

Altıntaş Plain, formed by Kokarçay on the south of Kütahya, became one of the last remaining breeding site of bustards. Bustards is one of the bird types that are being extinct rapidly in Turkey and Europe and are put under protection with the decision of UN Charter and Central Hunting Comission.

Türkmen Mountain, that is on the northern side of Yazılıkaya Plateu which is in the middle of Eskişehir, Kütahya and Afyonkarahisar plains, has a rich bird life. The largest known population of black vultures in our country is found here. The other species make this area an important bird region are black storks, bearded vulture and booted eagles. Other than these species, honey buzzard, griffon vulture, short-toed eagle, sparrowhawk, buzzard, lesser spotted eagle, imperial eagle, Eurasian hobby and duck hawk can be found here.

VAKIF PINE GROVE NATURAL CONSERVATION AREA

It is within the borders of Vakıf Village, Tavşanlı town. The region, whose size is, is reached by 12 km length road that can be found on the 28th km of Kütahya-Tavşanlı highway. Vakıf pine grove is the only natural habitat of Ehrami black pine (Pinus nigra ssp. pallasiana var.pyramidata), which is a unique and endangered black pine variety, around the world. The presence of ebe black pine (Pinus nigra ssp. pallasiana var. şeneriana), which is a black pine variety that can be found only in our country, and finding black pines along with its two varieties together are the specialties of this unique ecosystem. On the field, there are juniper, iron oak, quaking aspen, willow and linden apart from the above-mentioned pines. Fox, badger, boar, rabbit, partridge and quail are the main animal species that can be found in the area.

NATURAL CONVERSATION AREAS

It reflects the characteristics of Black Sea forest ecosystem. Beech-black pine forests are natural example of optimally distributed area. Beech and black pine are dominant in the field which has a rich underbrush and wild life potential. Also oak and quaking aspen can be found.

Camping and Caravan Tourism

Murat Mountain, in Gediz town, that provides alternative tourism opportunities with its clean air, cold waters, rich bird diversity and thermal resources alternative tourism opportunities and Gölcük Plateau, which has fully functional infrastructure and located within the pine forests, have an important potential for camping and caravan tourism.

Porsuk

Having been built in order to protect the environment from the flood of Porsuk Stream, the dam has become an important center for fishery in the recent years. Works for the steady pier and planes started in Porsuk Dam around the Sofça Village for the water sports ( surfing, rowing, sailing etc.)

1000 Year-Old Chestnut Tree

Three chestnut trees located on the Kumarı Street, Boyacılar region which is 7 km. away from Kütahya have been growing and they still product fruits. Especially one of them has managed to survive for 1000 years with its 8 meter domain and height up to 20 meters. Each of the three trees are registered to be natural assets that should be protected.

Mızık Pine (Beşik Pine)

It is in Domur Village attached to Domaniç District. This pine which is the kind of black pine which the crib of Osman Gazi was made from, was destroyed because of the natural factors in 1980. It was identified to be 740 years old and have had 11 meters height, 4.70 meters domain. It was registered as a monument tree.

Enne Dam Nature Park

Enne Dam is located in the west of Kütahya and 16 km away from city center. Enne Dam is suitable for fishing and picnic.

Çamlıca Nature Park

Çamlıca Nature Park is located in the west of Kütahya. Picnic and service area has been arranged by Orman İşletmesi. Çamlıca Nature Park has pine trees, cold waters, fresh air and relaxing landscape.
