Kütahya Creative Cultural Industries Summit 2023: A Growing Creative Hub

The Kütahya Creative Cultural Industries Summit 2023, held on 19–22 October, brought together artisans, cultural leaders, entrepreneurs and academics for a dynamic four-day program highlighting the city’s expanding role in Türkiye’s creative economy. Hosted by the Kütahya Municipality and aligned with its status as a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Arts, the Summit focused on how traditional craftsmanship and contemporary innovation can move forward together.

Panels and talks explored themes such as craft heritage, digital transformation, creative tourism and cultural entrepreneurship, offering insight into how Kütahya’s ceramic, çini and silverwork traditions can adapt to new markets and technologies. Workshops provided hands-on sessions in areas like 3D design tools, brand storytelling, and traditional tile-decoration techniques, giving participants practical skills alongside expert guidance.

The Summit also spotlighted emerging initiatives including the incubation project “Improving Digitalization and Creativity Ecosystem in Kütahya” and new creative tourism routes connecting Kütahya to national and international networks.

With its mix of heritage, innovation and growing partnerships, the 2023 Summit reinforced Kütahya’s position as a creative city to watch—one actively shaping the future of craft, culture and community-driven entrepreneurship.
