United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) Creative Cities Network’s “Nomination Committee” Meeting was held.
The meeting under the presidency of Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir was attended by our Mayor Kamil Saraçoğlu, DPU’s Rector Prof. Dr. Remzi Gören, the Chairman of Kütahya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nafi Güral, The Secretary- General of ZEKA Yusuf Balcı, the Chairman of the Chamber of Craftsmen of Çini Sadık Erilbaylı and the members of the nomination committee.
Having given the opening speech of the meeting, the Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir said: “Our application for UNESCO Creative Cities Network and efforts of meeting all of the qualifications necessary for the application continue. In the meantime,our Secretary- General of ZEKA Yusuf Balcı and the committee with him made a visit to the Deputy President of the National Commission of UNESCO Esteemed Ambassador Hüseyin Avni Botsalı. There are many aspects told us during the visit that will lead us and strengthen our hands in this process. Before anything else, they came back with the statements which demonstrated we got far enough to date and encouraged us. We are going to share with you the qualifications we have to fulfill in the ongoing process. We are making efforts to carry the works that will bring us a successful result into effect in this process.
Having given information about the actions, the Secretary- General of ZEKA Yusuf Balcı expressed that: “We gave information about the actions we carried out to the Deputy President of the National Commission of UNESCO Esteemed Ambassador Hüseyin Avni Botsalı in our visit to Ankara. We listened their recommendations and advices. Our time is limited, so the responsibilities of the parties should be determined. This meeting will be a meeting where we will take an actual step .We will be carrying out our actions after this meeting.”
It was decided to invite the Deputy President of the National Commission of UNESCO Esteemed Ambassador Hüseyin Avni Botsalı and the President of the National Commission of UNESCO Prof. Dr. Öcal Oğuz to the next nomination committee meeting.
Having emphasized that the project is a very serious work, the Mayor Kamil Saraçoğlu said:” It is important for us that the works are carried out collaboratively. It is a very serious work, so that we will offer all of our opportunities and make it to the end.”
Having congratulated those who contributed in the organization of the project, the Chairman of Kütahya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nafi Güral said: “Congratulations, the project was organized very well. We will provide the necessary support for you by discussing the opportunities of Kütahya Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the details of the project.
Having pointed out that the project is a necessity for Kütahya, the Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir expressed that: “Our object is clear. It is both boosting the quality and the certificate of product and continue this work in the process of UNESCO. Whether it is UNESCO’s or not, Kütahya needs a project like this. It is an important work for us to know our own values and promote them.”
